The Honeypot Ant

We went to the Devil's Punchbowl over spring break in May and saw some cool creatures! This is a honeypot ant, the link tells about it better than I could. It's kind of cool, kind of creepy!

The Petersen's and the Poppies

 In May 2011 we went to the poppy fields with our good friends the Petersens. Unfortunately the poppies had a bad year this year compared to last year, which I didn't know until we drove out there! It was still fun to see Kiley, Anna, Alahna, Robert, & William. When we moved from Victorville we left them behind and we miss them SO much!

All of the big kids had run across the field and Allie wanted to go but she was scared

because they were already so far away. Robert said, "It's okay, hold my hand and I will

take you out there." How sweet is that!?!

After the poppy fields we went to Apollo park and had a picnic and went to all the playgrounds and fed the ducks. We had a great time! We love you Petersen family! 

The Wind

Michael woke up early one morning to wash dishes. He opened the blinds over the kitchen sink. He thought something was missing and realized he couldn't see the trampoline. This is what he saw when he went out the front door. It had been pretty windy the night before, windy enough to pick up our trampoline and blow it over the fence. It is resting on our roof and it is lodged in the neighbor's fence. It had only been up for a week when this happened, it was brand new. One of the legs bent completely and snapped in half, a couple others bent beyond repair. Two of the net poles bent and the net got a hole in it. Thank heaven for replacement parts!

Easter Party

Northrop also did an Easter party this year, it was similar to the Christmas party. Crafts for the kids, coloring, face painting, balloon animals, an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny! It was pretty fun. Gracie brought her friend Alana with us.

The Park

Yard Work

We decided to move our garden to a different spot in the yard. Michael rented a machine to help clear and level the ground.  Jacob and Allie have to help do everything!

The Track Team

Emma was on the track team at school last year. She participated in the 100 meter dash and the long jump. She did well in both events and had a lot of fun. She jumped over 8 feet the first time! I thought that was pretty good!

Of course Jacob, Gracie, and Allie had to have a turn too!

Tehachapi Mountain Sledding

We took the kids sledding in Tehachapi before the snow melted. It was SO much fun! Jacob crashed his first time down so he wanted to leave, but he went a few more times after we showed him how to stop and he did much better! Allie liked sliding down on her rear better than the sleds, but she had a good time.
